Mali – Opening of the CRLD in Bamako

In Bamako, on Thursday, 21 January 2010, Fondation Pierre Fabre and all its partners officially opened the Research Centre to combat sickle cell disease (CRLD).
The entire ceremony was one of great simplicity and emotion.
Malian President Amadou Toumani Touré was joined by his wife, Chairwoman of the Fondation Pour l’Enfance (children’s foundation), the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the National Assembly and numerous ministers, and expressed genuine enthusiasm for this accomplishment. The Director General of the Foundation had the privilege of speaking at the ceremony on behalf of all the partners in the North. Fondation Pierre Fabre was highly honoured and warmly thanked for its commitment by all Malian stakeholders, from scientists to political leaders.
Five directors from Fondation Pierre Fabre – Robert Barthès, Nathalie Delapalme, Marc Gentilini, Jacques Godfrain and François-Bernard Michel – and Dr Sauveur Ferrara attended this event which was an important moment in the Foundation’s history.
