Call for regional project proposals Occitanie
11/08/2017
For the third straight year, the Fondation Pierre Fabre has announced a call for regional proposals to support initiatives leading to improved healthcare in the Global South. Proposals can be submitted from 8 November 2017 to 15 January 2018.
The Fondation Pierre Fabre’s call for regional project proposals, the first of which was in 2016, targets cooperative partners in the Occitanie region implementing initiatives that support improved healthcare in the Global South. It is an expression of the Foundation’s commitment to supporting local associations working in the health and healthcare realms.
Since 2002, nearly sixty varied initiatives have received financial support from the Foundation totalling more than €580,000. The Occitanie Coopération network, of which the Fondation Pierre Fabre has been a member for several years, will provide advice and assistance to organisations wishing to respond to the call for projects and will make the request.
Grant-eligible projects must have missions intended to improve the conditions in which people in the Global South have access to quality healthcare or medicines and/or to improve healthcare worker skills. The call for projects therefore concerns any initiative in the following areas:
– Fighting pandemics and neglected diseases
– Improving maternal and child health
– Supporting national health systems and access to medical care
– Strengthening the skills of healthcare personnel
– Research projects
– Developing eHealth solutions
To be eligible, projects must:
– Be backed by an association or institution (community, healthcare institution, university, etc.) based in Occitanie
– Not exceed two years in duration
– Benefit a French-speaking country in sub-Saharan Africa, Madagascar, the Caribbean (other than French departments) or Southeast Asia (Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia)
– Involve one or more local partners
The winning projects, which will receive the funding awarded by the Fondation Pierre Fabre, will be presented at a ceremony at the Foundation’s headquarters in Lavaur.
Following the 2017 call for project proposals, seven projects were chosen:
- The NGO Les Enfants de l’air – Creating a day-care centre to receive children of the nursing staff of the Kankan Regional Hospital in the Republic of Guinea.
